How much $$$ will I need?

With the Dollar, Pound and Euro holding strong against the Peso, you shouldn't need as much as you think.
Right now US$1 will buy you nearly AR$4.5;
GB£1 will get you AR$7.1;
and EU€ will buy AR$6.5.
Be aware that inflation rates in Argentina are high, between 20-25%, so don't be surprised if things seem to get more expensive while your there.
Before your journey it's best to check the exchange rates at the Universal Currency Converter website.

Prices in Argentina have remained quite low since the 2001 crash (before which it used to be US$1 to AR$1), and anyone coming from Europe or North America will certainly benefit.
Prices are also cheap, for example in a restaurant you can get a set menu which includes a main meal, drink and sometimes dessert from around AR$30, depending on where you are in the city. Furthermore, as you can see from the Things To Do section, entrance prices to museums and places of interest are also cheap, around AR$2-5. Also with public transport at between just AR$1 and AR$2.50, it really is cheap!
Judging by all this you should get by with little spending money, or for a little more live like a king!
